The Bengals have placed ORT Andre Smith on injured reserve and have signed S Rico Murray from their practice squad.
Smith had his foot stepped on by a teammate during a pass-protection drill at practice on Wednesday, forcing the second-year pro to be carted off. He played in seven of the team's eight games in 2010 after suiting up for only six games all of last year following a long contract holdout.
Murray played for the Bengals previously this season, suiting up in their Week Eight game vs. the Dolphins, recording two tackles. He also played in four games for Cincinnati in 2009.
The way we see it
Smith has been a bust since being the sixth overall pick of the 2009 draft. It will be interesting to see if he returns to the Bengals in better shape next season after struggling with his weight the first two years of his career.
