Matt Ryan attempted a career-high 50 passes in Atlanta's Week 10 win over Baltimore, and six-time All-Pro Tony Gonzalez was targeted only five times in the game. He was held to four catches for 38 yards and is on pace to have fewer catches and yards than he had last year. There has been talk of Gonzalez slowing down in his 14th season, and some have said he isn't as much of a threat after the catch, but others aren't convinced that his age has much to do with his numbers. A longtime team observer said there are other reasons that explain why Gonzalez's stats aren't overwhelming — defenses are showing him respect with frequent double-teams, WR Roddy White is getting open consistently, and Ryan, who has thrown only five interceptions all season, refuses to force throws into tight coverage. The Falcons are pleased with what they're getting from Gonzalez, and he's happy to be on a team with a legitimate hope for a long playoff run.
