Browns LB Marcus Benard collapsed and fell off his chair in the club's locker room at the team facility and was taken away via ambulance, multiple media outlets reported Thursday.

The team later released a statement saying that Benard had been released from an area hospital at 8:15 p.m. local time and would undergo further evaluation Friday.

Benard was conscious as the team's trainers attended to him, according to The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer. The Akron Beacon Journal reported Benard was sitting up on a stretcher as he entered the ambulance. According to The Plain Dealer, team spokesperson Neil Gulkis said that Benard was stable and alert and had been transported to an undisclosed hospital for testing.

Benard, 25, is a second-year player from Jackson State. He has played in seven games this season, starting one, with 13 tackles and 4½ sacks.
