Broncos LB D.J. Williams was taken into custody by police early Friday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The linebacker, who was driving a white Hummer, was pulled over at 2:50 a.m. in Denver and was arrested at the scene.
The case has been turned over to the district attorney's office, which will consider possible charges.
The way we see it
It's still uncertain whether or not the arrest will keep Williams out of Sunday's game against the Chiefs, but a struggling Broncos defense certainly needs him.
The seventh-year veteran leads the team in tackles (72) and sacks (3.5) and is the leader up front for the defense. Denver is in the midst of trying to switch back to a 3-4 defensive scheme, but likely will not be able to do so without Williams.
