Lions head coach Jim Schwartz often has cited Bill Belichick and Jeff Fisher as two of his biggest coaching influences, so it doesn't take a lot of detective work to figure out how he has developed his policy on talking about injured players. Schwartz and QB Matthew Stafford, who was instructed to deflect questions about his ailing shoulder, said nothing firm about the timetable of his injury, but Schwartz scolded some media members for their "irresponsible" report about Stafford possibly being out for the season. For the time being, Stafford and PK Jason Hanson (knee) will remain inactive on the 53-man roster while the team evaluates their injuries. With the Lions playing a softer schedule in the second half and with the team gaining some momentum, we hear the decisions to keep both players available to return is tied into this. That said, don't expect Stafford to return anytime soon based on inside information we have culled.
