The Patriots will sign PK Shayne Graham to replace injured PK Stephen Gostkowski, according to PFW correspondent Ian Rapoport.
Graham, a 10-year veteran, played one game for the Giants this season when Lawrence Tynes got hurt. He made all four extra points and kicked one touchback out of five kickoffs in that game. He did not attempt a field goal.
Graham played in all 16 games for the Bengals in 2009, converting 23-of-28 field goal attempts (82.1 percent). He also had 8 touchbacks out of 69 kickoffs.
Gostkowski left Sunday's loss to the Browns with a quad injury. WR Wes Welker kicked an extra point and kicked off with Gostkowski on the bench. Gostkowski had made nine field goals in a row since missing three of his first four this season.
The way we see it
Graham is arguably the best kicker not on a roster. The Lions were also looking for a kicker with Jason Hanson hurt, and will reportedly sign Dave Rayner. Gostkowski is expected to miss two games, but those games are against the Steelers and Colts, so Graham could be called upon for some crucial kicks.
