The Panthers have placed former first-round OT Jeff Otah (knee) on injured reserve. They also claimed RB Andre Brown off waivers from Indianapolis and re-signed RB Josh Vaughan and LB Abdul Hodge. PFW correspondent Darin Gantt first reported the transactions.

Otah had not played this season. The Panthers selected him 19th overall in the 2008 NFL draft. He had arthroscopic knee surgery on his left knee in August.

Geoff Schwartz has played in Otah's spot. The Panthers have allowed 25 sacks this season, fourth-most in the league.

The Panthers have been without RB DeAngelo Williams for two games with a sprained foot, and RB Jonathan Stewart left Sunday's game with a head injury.

The way we see it

Putting Otah on I.R. is not a surprise but obviously a disappointment that the first-rounder could not recover from the surgery in time to play. Brown and Vaughan add depth to a depleted RB corps.
