The Jaguars signed OT Adam Terry, CB Terrence Wheatley and WR John Matthews on Tuesday and waived QB Todd Bouman, OL Erik Pears and Landon Cohen.
Terry, a fifth-year pro, played in two games with the Chargers season. Wheatley, a second-round pick by the Patriots in 2008, was cut to make room for OG Logan Mankins. Matthews spent the preseason with the Jags before being cut and signed to the practice squad where he has been for the past seven weeks.
Bouman started when QBs David Garrard and Trent Edwards were hurt.
The way we see it
The Jags feel that Terry is an upgrade over Pears, adding depth to an O-line that is without Eden Britton for the year. Their secondary has been dismal this year, so Wheatley could help jolt the unit. Matthews made a lot of plays in the preseason and has good hands.
