Here's our weekly look at the contributions made by Browns rookies this season:

CB Joe Haden (first round): Haden sees regular playing time as the Browns' third cornerback. He recorded three tackles and defended a pass in the Browns' 34-14 win vs. the Patriots on Sunday. Haden has one interception and 27 tackles this season and also has five special-teams stops.

S T.J. Ward (second round): The 5-10, 211-pound Ward notched six tackles vs. New England in Week Nine. He continues to pace the club in tackles (67, with 52 solo). He also ranks third on the club in special-teams tackles with seven. He is the Browns' only rookie starter on defense.

QB Colt McCoy (third round): McCoy has put himself in consideration for the full-time starting job by leading Cleveland to two wins in the last three games. As for the decision on the Browns' starting quarterback going forward, head coach Eric Mangini said McCoy's play "is definitely making it a lot harder." McCoy completed 14-of-19 passes for 174 yards and rushed for a 16-yard TD in the upset of the Patriots on Sunday, and overall, he's completed 46-of-68 passes for 529 yards with one TD and two interceptions. He has not committed a turnover in his last two starts.

OG Shawn Lauvao (third round): Lauvao has appeared as a reserve in Cleveland's last two games. He's listed as the second-string right guard behind Floyd Womack, but veteran Billy Yates has started the last two games at the position, with Womack moving to right tackle for the injured John St. Clair.

SS Larry Asante (fifth round): He was waived on Sept. 4 and signed to the Browns' practice squad the next day.

WR Carlton Mitchell (sixth round): Mitchell was active in Week Nine vs. New England and played on special teams. He has appeared in two games this season and has yet to catch a pass.

DL Travis Ivey (undrafted free agent): Waived from the roster on Sept. 4 and re-signed to the practice squad Sept. 5.

DL Brian Sanford (undrafted free agent): Like Ivey, he was re-signed to the practice squad Sept. 5 after being waived the previous day.

Notes: RB Montario Hardesty (second round, No. 59) is on injured reserve after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the Browns' final preseason game. ... DE Clifton Geathers (sixth round, No. 186) was waived by the Browns on Sept. 4. The Dolphins claimed him on Sept. 5, waived him from their roster on Sept. 14, re-signed him to the practice squad Sept. 15 and waived him from the practice squad Sept. 18. ... WR Johnathan Haggerty (undrafted free agent) was waived/injured on Aug. 16 with a foot injury and is currently on Cleveland's injured-reserve list.
