The Redskins placed SS Chris Horton on injured reserve on Monday. They signed DB Anderson Russell from the practice squad to take Horton's spot on the 53-man roster.

Horton suffered an ankle injury in Week Eight. A special-teams contributor, Horton recorded 10 tackles on punt and kickoff coverage units this season.

Russell, a rookie out of Ohio State, was a four-year starter at free safety in college and likely will replace Horton on the team's coverage units.
