Saints TE Jeremy Shockey left the team's Week Nine game with a rib injury and was taken via ambulance to a Charlotte hospital.

Shockey suffered the injury on a seven-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter, the 500th reception of his career. He was hit hard in the back by a Panthers defender and appeared to be in a great amount of pain following the play.

The way we see it

The tight end will miss the rest of this game and use the Week Ten bye to rest up for the final seven games of the season. Expect an announcement on the severity of Shockey's injury in the coming days.
