Here's a look at a key matchup heading into Sunday's Week Nine battle between the Bears and the Bills in Toronto.

Bears' run defense vs. Bills RBs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller

The Bears' run defense is ranked fifth in the league and is allowing only 3.6 yards per carry, but it did appear to wear down in Chicago's last game. Redskins RB Ryan Torain had 11 carries for 93 yards in the second half of the Bears' Week Seven loss to Washington, and Torain averaged six yards per carry in the game.

Bills head coach Chan Gailey most likely took that into consideration when game-planning for Sunday.

If Buffalo can keep from falling too far behind the Bears, it won't be forced to throw to catch up, and RBs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller could be featured more prominently than they have in the past — Buffalo ranks 26th in rushing attempts (178).

Spiller hasn't had a run of longer than 19 yards this season, but he has rare speed and the potential to make defenders miss.

WLB Lance Briggs is expected to return from the left ankle injury that forced him to the sideline early in the game against the Redskins. He, MLB Brian Urlacher and SLB Pisa Tinoisamoa received some much-needed rest during the bye. They have played very well together and could shut down Jackson and Spiller if Chicago's defensive line keeps blockers from getting to the second level.
