TE Heath Miller is on pace to catch significantly fewer passes than in 2009, and his fumble in Saints territory ended a promising Pittsburgh drive in the fourth quarter of the Steelers' 20-10 loss to New Orleans. But that doesn't mean he's not having a fine season or is not a key contributor to the offense, the way we hear it. Miller is a very good pass catcher and an above-average blocker, and when he has been targeted in the passing game, he has come through, catching 17 of the 24 passes thrown to him this season. The Steelers have leaned on the running game more this season, perhaps limiting Miller's opportunties as a receiver. After the loss to New Orleans, QB Ben Roethlisberger dismissed the fumble as a fluke and said, "He's the best tight end in the game." That's a strong statement, but it speaks to the respect there is for Miller in the Pittsburgh locker room.
