The Jaguars' offensive line is a work in progress. Veterans Jordan Black and Vince Manuwai are still getting their feet wet since replacing Eben Britton (shoulder) and Justin Smiley (ankle) — Black made his first start of the season at right tackle in Week Eight; Manuwai at left guard in Week Six. Still, the unit is doing a much better job protecting the quarterback than it did in 2009, while also paving the way for the league's eighth-ranked rushing attack. Second-year OLT Eugene Monroe, who struggled in Week Three against Trent Cole and the Eagles, has played particularly well the past month, winning battles against top-flight pass rushers DeMarcus Ware and Dwight Freeney. We hear that Monroe, who is playing much faster than he did as a rookie, has made great strides in both run and pass blocking. C Brad Meester and ORG Uche Nwaneri have also stepped up their play significantly from a season ago.
