The Dolphins were one of the teams to reportedly put a claim on OLB Shawne Merriman. They were not scared off by Merriman's injuries and decrease in production. Actively looking for a pass rusher, the Dolphins want an upgrade opposite WLB Cameron Wake. The way we hear it, one possibility is former Bengals LB Rashad Jeanty. The Miami native fractured his fibula in the wild-card playoff loss to the Jets and was cut by the Bengals. Miami would have to wait for him to be in condition to pass a physical, and there may be other suitors for Jeanty. In four seasons with the Bengals, the 27-year-old did not record a sack, but like Wake, was a successful pass rusher in the CFL. Rookie Koa Misi and Ikaika Alama-Francis currently rotate as the strong-side linebacker opposite Wake. Misi has 3½ sacks this season and two fumble recoveries, but the Dolphins prefer a better pass-rushing option to rotate with Misi.
