The Colts announced on Friday that rookie OG Jacques McClendon will be active for the first time this season on Sunday against the Eagles. McClendon will wear No. 80 and be listed as a tight end.

The way we see it

With Dallas Clark on I.R. and rookie TE Brody Eldridge's status uncertain for Sunday with a rib injury, McClendon could be asked to help out as an in-line blocker. TE Jacob Tamme is most valuable as a receiver and TE Gijon Robinson is the only other blocking TE available. McClendon has taken snaps at both guard and center during practice, but this is the first we are hearing of him being used as a tight end.

The Colts' backfield is also banged up, with Joseph Addai and Mike Hart both expected to be out on Sunday. With second-year RB Donald Brown and undrafted rookie RB Javarris James the only healthy remaining bodies, the Colts can use all the blocking help they can get against a tough Eagles front.
