An allergic reaction to a medication has limited the practice participation of Cardinals RB Beanie Wells.

Wells experienced swelling in his right knee after Orthovisc was injected in the knee. The medication is commonly used to lubricate sore knees, according to Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Whisenhunt said Wells looked better in practice Thursday but still would need to show him more in Friday's practice to retain his starting job for Sunday's game at Minnesota.

Wells missed the first two games of the season after injuring the same knee in the final preseason game and then undergoing arthroscopic surgery. He got his first start of the season last Sunday, gaining 50 yards on 16 carries.
