Here’s a look at a key matchup heading into the Week Nine prime-time battle between the Packers and Cowboys.
Packers SS Charlie Peprah vs. Cowboys TE Jason Witten
After an excellent outing against the Jets that increased the likelihood that Atari Bigby could have a hard time regaining the starting SS job (if and when he is activated off the physically-unable-to-perform list), the hardworking Peprah should be very busy Sunday defending Witten, who is a six-time Pro Bowl selection for good reason.
Witten has 42 receptions, the second-most on the Cowboys, and three TDs, including one score each of the past two games. In that same span, he has caught a combined 19 catches for 192 yards (10-97-1 last week). Witten doesn’t have great speed, but he knows how to consistently get open and has excellent hands and good toughness.
Peprah has improved every week in a starting role, showing excellent determination and persistence. After being out of position on a 40-yard bomb to Jets TE Dustin Keller against the Jets, he redeemed himself with two tremendous pass breakups later in the game.
