Vikings head coach Brad Childress announced Wednesday that WR Sidney Rice has been activated from the physically-unable-to-perform list.

"He has done everything he can do from a rehabilitation standpoint," Childress told the media.

Rice will participate in a team walkthrough Wednesday and will work with the scout team. He is not expected to be active on Sunday and is likely 2-3 weeks away from seeing game action.

Rice suffered a hip injury in the Vikings 2009 NFC championship game loss to the Saints. He then sat out all of training camp before eventually having surgery.

The way we see it

With four divisional games remaining on the schedule, the Vikings will need Rice to contribute down the stretch; especially with the departure of WR Randy Moss.

While it's still unknown how effective he'll be coming off of the injury, Rice's ability to stretch the field is something Minnesota needs. The Vikings had 13 completions of 40-plus yards last season, seven of which went to Rice, but have not yet completed a single pass of more than 40 yards this season.

Fantasy Spin

While it is unknown how soon Rice will be able to contribute, we suggest rushing to grab the receiver off the waiver wire. Rice is coming off a career year and should be able to help your fantasy team in a late playoff push.
