The Seahawks placed DE Red Bryant (knee) and OLG Ben Hamilton (concussion) on injured reserve Tuesday. Both players suffered their injuries in Sunday's loss to the Raiders.
Seattle signed DT Frank Okam to the 53-man roster and released RB Quinton Ganther and CB Nate Ness.
Ness started Sunday because of injuries to starting CBs Kelly Jennings and Walter Thurmond, but both should return for Week Nine. Ganther started for FB Michael Robinson, who should also be ready.
The Seahawks now have just 50 players on their active roster.
The way we see it
Bryant and Hamilton were both starters, and losing Bryant is huge for the Seahawks. He became a revelation at right end after being converted from tackle this offseason and was a huge key in defending the run. Hamilton had been mentoring rookie Russell Okung at the left guard position. Chester Pitts is likely to take over, but he has battled knee injuries. Ness struggled when put in a starting role.
It is worth noting that the Seahawks have roster spots available, should they make a waiver claim on WR Randy Moss.
