The Cowboys released former third-round pick LB Jason Williams on Tuesday.
Williams played in 10 games for Dallas and made eight tackles on special teams. They released their other third-round pick from 2009, OT Robert Brewster, a couple of weeks ago.
Williams entered the season with a chance to replace Bobby Carpenter as the team's nickel linebacker but never made it off the special-teams unit.
The way we see it
Williams made too many mistakes in his time in Dallas. He was athletic but an overall bust. Rookie LB Sean Lee overtook Williams on the depth chart this season. The open roster spot could go to a cornerback as the secondary is shorthanded.
