The Giants announced Monday that they have placed CB Bruce Johnson on injured reserve and filled his roster spot with DE Alex Hall.

Johnson, a second-year player out of Miami (Fla.), had played in five games this season before suffering a knee injury. He underwent arthroscopic knee surgery last week.

Hall, 25, was with the Giants in training camp, playing in three preseason games with the team before being waived/injured after missing the fourth preseason game with a shoulder injury. He was picked up by the Cardinals in September and was on the roster, but inactive, for four games before Arizona released him on Oct. 30.

He was awarded to the Giants off waivers Monday.

The way we see it

The Giants obviously wanted to add to their DE depth after placing Mathias Kiwanuka on injured reserve late last week. With the addition of CB-KR Will Blackmon, the team no longer had to wait for Johnson to get healthy and decided to shut him down for the rest of the season.
