The Panthers will be without RB DeAngelo Williams for Sunday's game against the Rams.
PFW correspondent Darin Gantt reported that Williams, WR Devin Thomas and ORT Jeff Otah did not travel to St. Louis on Saturday.
Williams sprained his foot during the second half of the Panthers' first win of the season against the 49ers in Week Seven. He had a season-high 19 carries before the injury. Williams has 361 rushing yards this season after two consecutive rushing seasons of 1,000-plus yards.
RB Jonathan Stewart will carry the load for the Panthers' backfield. He had 14 rushes for just 29 yards against the Niners.
The way we see it
Luckily for the Panthers, they have another starter-caliber back in Stewart to handle the running game. RB Mike Goodson could also see some carries.
For Stewart owners, this is the day you were waiting for, when Stewart will not share any carries with Williams. If the Panthers' passing game gets going like it did against the 49ers, that could open up some runs for Stewart.
