The Cardinals added LB Gerald Hayes to the active roster from the physically-unable-to-perform list on Saturday. LB O'Brien Schofield has also been added from the non-football injury list.

WR Onrea Jones and LB Alex Hall were released to make room on the roster.

Hayes, an eighth-year veteran, has 60 career starts. He had 62 tackles and a forced fumble last season. He was on the PUP list after undergoing back surgery.

Schofield was the Cardinals' fourth-round pick in April's draft. The Wisconsin grad tore the ACL in his left knee preparing for the Senior Bowl.

The way we see it

The linebackers will be welcome sights for a 27th-ranked defense that is 29th against the run. Hayes brings some veteran experience to a crew that had lost Karlos Dansby in free agency.
