Rams' offensive tackles holding their own

Are the Rams happy with the job being turned in by their offensive tackles so far this season? Rodger that, team insiders tell us. Entering this past offseason, it was assumed second-round rookie Rodger Saffold would take over at the ORT position that had pretty much been the sole property of the departed Alex Barron, while 2009 first-round pick Jason Smith would settle in at left tackle — hopefully for a long time to come. As it turned out, though, because Saffold was quickly deemed a bit more fluid than Smith with better footwork, Saffold settled in on rookie QB Sam Bradford’s blind side, with Smith remaining at right tackle, where he played most of his rookie year. “They’ve both done pretty well,” said one team insider. “Saffold has had a few problems with edge rushes but has been solid for the most part. Smith’s run blocking has always been good, and his pass blocking has gotten better.”
