A healthy David Garrard has allowed the Jaguars to cut QB Patrick Ramsey and re-sign LB Jacob Cutrera, the team announced Friday.

Ramsey signed with Jacksonville last week after both Garrard (concussion) and QB Trent Edwards (thumb) suffered injuries. He was inactive in the Jags' 42-20 loss at Kansas City, serving as the No. 3 emergency quarterback behind a banged-up Edwards and recently signed starter Todd Bouman.

Cutrera returns to the team after being waived and placed on the practice squad when the Jags signed Bouman. He has played in four games for the Jaguars and totaled four special-teams tackles.

The way we see it

Ramsey was brought in strictly for insurance purposes with the Jags' top two quarterbacks out. With Garrard back, and Bouman still on the roster, there was no reason to hold on to Ramsey.
