With RB Pierre Thomas set to become a free agent for the second offseason in a row, he and head coach Sean Payton, who has great influence on the team's personnel decisions, are drifting apart. It's believed that the Saints spread word that Payton is frustrated with Thomas for not getting back on the field after suffering an ankle injury in Week Three in order to motivate, if not humiliate, the fourth-year back. Thomas has played through injuries in the past, and we hear it would be unlike him to not play with pain if he could. Then again, Thomas might be willing to deal with the perception that he's taking it easy. He has to keep in mind that returning before he's ready, risking an even worse injury or unimpressive production, would be even more detrimental to his value before he hits the open market. Thomas resumed jogging at practice this week, but it's still unknown when he will play in a game.
