The loss of Bengals CB Adam Jones to a season-ending herniated disk comes after he had earned roles with Cincinnati's defense and special-teams units and had shown some of the playmaking ability that once made him a highly regarded prospect. His contributions in the secondary could be particularly missed with injuries a concern at cornerback — starters Leon Hall and Johnathan Joseph, as well as reserve Morgan Trent, were on the injury report leading up to Week Eight. Jones, who also returned punts and kickoffs, suffered the injury the series after he authored his best play of the season — stripping the ball from Falcons WR Roddy White, recovering the ball and sprinting 59 yards for a touchdown to give Cincinnati a brief lead. Earlier, Jones had surrendered a 43-yard TD to White. Jones, who is signed through next season, has made a positive impression in Cincinnati, we're told, accepting coaching and working hard.
