The Chargers have announced that their Week Eight home game vs. the Titans has been blacked out in Southern California, as the team was unable to sell the necessary number of tickets before the NFL-imposed deadline of 72 hours before kickoff.

More than 8,000 seats remain for the game at Qualcomm Stadium, which has a capacity of 71,500. The Titans game is the third Chargers home game of 2010 blacked out to fans within 75 miles of the stadium; the only home game seen thus far was last week's loss to the Patriots.

The way we see it

This is the 11th blackout of the season through Week Eight of an NFL game, compared to only 22 all of last year. The economy is a major reason, but the Chargers' disappointing season likely plays a role, as well.
