Panthers LB Jamar Williams will be placed on injured reserve, according to PFW correspondent Darin Gantt.
Williams suffered a spinal concussion in the Panthers' Week Three loss to the Bengals. He practiced on Oct. 6 but was off the field the next day.
Gantt wrote that Williams felt fine last week and hoped to play soon, but the team was concerned with an MRI on his neck.
ProFootballTalk.com reports that the Panthers signed LB Abdul Hodge to replace Williams.
The way we see it
Williams was a versatile backup for the Panthers with the ability to play all three linebacker positions. This hurts their depth at the position and they still have to decide on Thomas Davis who is on the physically-unable-to-perform list. Losing Williams for the season is disappointing as the Panthers traded a starter (S Chris Harris) to acquire Williams.
