Rams RB Steven Jackson missed practice on Wednesday. He had surgery on his left ring finger on Monday and his status for Sunday's game against the Panthers is unknown.

Jackson suffered the injury in Sunday's 18-17 loss to the Buccaneers. He set the franchise's all-time rushing mark in the second quarter and finished with 110 yards on 22 carries.

Jackson tweeted after the surgery, "It has been a busy day. Yes, I had surgery on my ring finger but I shouldn't miss a beat."

The way we see it

Jackson should play in Sunday's game against the Panthers. He has been productive this season and the surprising Rams have a 3-4 record. When he had to leave a game earlier this season with an injury, RB Kenneth Darby stepped in and the Rams held on for a victory over the Redskins.

Fantasy Spin

Keep Jackson in your starting lineup — he has had more than 100 rushing yards each of the past three games — but be concerned if he misses more practice time this week. He's facing Carolina's 24th-ranked run defense on Sunday and could have a big day. If he does miss another practice and it looks like he won't be able to play, Darby would be a good fantasy bet.
