Jaguars DE Derrick Harvey could go down as an NFL bust after being benched this week by head coach Jack Del Rio.

PFW correspondent Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union wrote that Del Rio confirmed he has benched Harvey, the No. 8 overall pick in the 2008 NFL draft.

Harvey's playing time had been reduced. He had started all seven games, recording six tackles. He has six career sacks.

The way we see it

Jeremy Mincey will fill Harvey's role. Although Harvey has been starting, he has been losing snaps to Mincey for weeks. Mincey is a high-motor guy that provides a greater threat as a pass rusher. He was very solid during training camp, and the Jaguars love his work ethic. Rookie DEs Larry Hart and Austen Lane will also see bigger roles. Hart has played more than Lane, but neither player has had much impact so far this season.
