The Browns waived RB James Davis and claimed RB Thomas Clayton off waivers from New England, multiple media outlets reported Monday.

Davis, 24, has played in four games this season for Cleveland, carrying four times for nine yards, all in Week Three at Baltimore when then-Browns RB Jerome Harrison was out with a thigh injury.

Clayton, 26, was on the Browns' practice squad earlier this season. New England signed him to its roster on Sept. 30 and waived him on Oct. 23.

Davis wrote on his Twitter account Monday, "Finally was granted with my wish," and his agent told The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer that Davis was "dissatisfied" recently with his role.

The way we see it

Clayton, who has never appeared in an NFL game, figures as the Browns' No. 3 running back. The role probably won't entail many carries, with starter Peyton Hillis getting most of the work, Mike Bell spelling Hillis and WR-RS Joshua Cribbs also occasionally getting carries out of the "Flash" package.
