In a conference call with Patriots media, Vikings head coach Brad Childress indicated that QB Brett Favre wouldn't practice on Wednesday.

"I don't anticipate him taking any snaps today, no,'' Childress said.

Favre has two fractures in his foot that could prevent him from making his NFL-record 292nd consecutive start, in New England against the Patriots.

Backup Tarvaris Jackson figures to get the majority of the work in practice and would go if Favre cannot.

Favre currently is in a walking boot, although the injury will not require surgery right now. His status for Sunday is very much up in the air.

The PFW spin

Favre has missed plenty of Wednesday practices over his 20-year career, so this doesn't add a ton of alarm to the situation. It does, however, make clear that Favre really is injured and will have to make some serious progress to be on the field at Foxborough.
