Cowboys QB Tony Romo was knocked out of the Monday-night game against the Giants with a fractured left clavicle. He won't return to the game, and it wasn't immediately known how long he might be sidelined, although early reports suggested he might be sidelined for several months.

Romo was hit by Giants OLB Michael Boley, who came unblocked on a blitz, just as the quarterback was releasing a pass early in the second quarter. Jon Kitna, who hadn't played in a regular-season game this year, replaced Romo.

Dallas was leading 10-7 when Romo left the game, and they subsequently stretched their lead to 20-7 on Dez Bryant's 93-yard punt return. But the Giants rallied behind Eli Manning to take a 24-20 advantage at halftime.
