The main focus continued to be on injuries in Packers head coach Mike McCarthy’s Monday press conference. Fresh off a thrilling 28-24 victory over the Vikings and Brett Favre the night before, McCarthy said that OL Brady Poppinga (knee) and rookie DE Mike Neal (shoulder) would require season-ending surgeries.
McCarthy also said starting DE Cullen Jenkins, who hurt his calf before the Vikings game, must be considered questionable for next weekend’s game against the high-powered Jets.
The way we see it
Jenkins is a key cog up front, but on Sunday evening the defensive line persevered in fine fashion with young defenders B.J. Raji, C.J. Wilson and Jarius Wynn all stepping up in prime time. McCarthy went out of his way to praise the young trio, in addition to ILBs A.J. Hawk, who won a game ball, and Desomnd Bishop.
