Saints RB Reggie Bush told reporters has been cleared to play in Week Eight when the Saints host the Steelers, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Bush broke his fibula during a Week Two win over the 49ers on a punt return and has missed the team's last five games. He will rejuvenate a New Orleans run game that has struggled since he and starter Pierre Thomas (ankle) left the lineup with injuries.
"Injuries are a part of this game, guys are going to get hurt," Bush said. "Anytime you have key guys out you're definitely not going to be as good because they are the guys who have been here, who know the system and have the experience. Once we get healthy we'll be better, but are we going to be back to the old Saints, I don't know. Because that takes the whole team to do."
The way we see it
The Saints' offense was awful in a Week Seven loss to the Browns, as Drew Brees threw four interceptions (two were returned for touchdowns) and the team had only 58 net rushing yards. Bush was not an every-down back before his injury and likely won't be after returning from five weeks off, but his big-play capabilities should help the team as they try to top Pittsburgh's physical defense.
