The Colts will wait until after the 2010 season to discuss a contract extension with QB Peyton Manning, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Sunday morning.

Manning's agent, Tom Condon, said his client's contract extension will no longer be discussed until after the season. The Colts have the option to put the franchise tag on Manning.

The way we see it

Knowing that the contract won't be discussed until the offseason could remove a potential off-field distraction for the Colts. Manning has his work cut out for him this season with injuries hitting his receivers and backs hard, and one of his top targets, TE Dallas Clark, is out for the year. The Patriots and QB Tom Brady agreed to a contract extension before Week One.
