Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez, who has been out since the season opener with a high ankle sprain, recently tweaked the injury, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Colts will be without WR Austin Collie for at least a few weeks after the receiver underwent thumb surgery this week. TE Dallas Clark is out for the season with a wrist injury. Gonzalez would be the one to replace Collie when he is healthy.
Gonzalez returned to practice for the first time before Week Six but was inactive. He missed almost all of last season with a knee injury. The Colts have a bye in Week Seven before playing the Texans on Monday night in Week Eight.
The way we see it
The Colts need to hope this setback is only minor. With so many injuries to receivers, Gonzalez's return could significantly bolster their offensive attack. While WRs Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon are healthy, there isn't much behind them. Undrafted rookie WR Blair White has played and will be Collie's replacement if Gonzalez still isn't ready to go by Week Eight.
