Here's notes on the second quarter of Browns-Saints from a Cleveland perspective.
Halftime score: Browns 20, Saints 3
Positives: The Browns intercepted Drew Brees three times — three times! — in the second quarter. The second of those interceptions bounced off Browns LB David Bowens, then Saints OG Jahri Evans, and was then snapped up by Bowens, who ran it in for a touchdown to give Cleveland a 20-3 lead with two minutes left in the half. On the Browns' previous possession, the Cleveland special teams struck with another big play, with P Reggie Hodges sprinting 68 yards up the middle on a fake. The play set up a Phil Dawson field goal.
Negatives: The offense didn't get much going in the second half, but the defense and special teams more than made up for that.
Outlook: The Browns are playing their best of the game of the season. The defense has generated pressure and confusion, and the special-teams play has been excellent. They have far outplayed the defending Super Bowl champions to this point.
