Dunlap stands up well for Eagles

King Dunlap was a player the coaches have been intrigued by for more than a year now, but there was some concern when it appeared that undrafted rookie Austin Howard had outplayed him in training camp. But Dunlap worked his way back into the backup OLT spot and was the replacement when starter Jason Peters went down. Dunlap struggled badly against the 49ers and appeared to be overmatched, but he responded with a clean sheet and a fine performance against the Falcons and DE John Abraham. The key for Dunlap is staying balanced and playing lower, despite his height. At 6-foot-9, he can get too upright at times and overreach with his blocks. But he can channel great power and extension with his long arms and keep rushers at bay, like he did against the Falcons. The Eagles feel much better about Dunlap now that he has shown he can play at a top level and respond after a tough outing.
