The talk of mistakes and turnovers in Dallas is justified, but it ignores a certain fact: Some players from last season's Cowboys simply are not playing as well this season. One of them is CB Mike Jenkins, who has taken to grabbing opposing receivers' jerseys when he is beat in coverage. It's a bad habit for a player who had been developing into one of the league's fine young corners. When PFW spoke to Jenkins in August, he spoke of tweaking some of his techniques and fine-tuning his game with the hope that he could rise to perennial Pro Bowl level. That hasn't happened. One NFC scout who has watched tape of Jenkins said by e-mail that Jenkins has "gotten sloppy" and that he seems to be gambling too much in an effort to make interceptions. Jenkins was whistled for four pass-interference calls in Weeks Five and Six combined after being flagged for only one last season. When asked about the calls, Jenkins has turned his ire toward the officials and has vowed that he won't change his approach.
