Steelers OLB James Harrison returned to the team's practice facility on Thursday, one day after contemplating retirement.

Head coach Mike Tomlin excused Harrison from Wednesday's practice. Harrison, who was fined $75,000 on Tuesday for knocking Browns WR Mohamed Massaquoi out of their Week Six game, was "very serious" about retiring according to his agent, Bill Parise.

Harrison said Tuesday on Fox Sports Radio that he didn't know if he could play under the NFL's new mandate. After multiple devastating hits in Sunday's game, the NFL announced this week they are cracking down on violent play, willing to suspend players for hits.

The way we see it

The Steelers can breathe a sigh of relief, not that there was much of a question on whether or not Harrison would return, it seemed he just wanted to make a statement. The three-time Pro Bowler has five sacks this season among his 40 tackles.
