The members of the Patriots' rookie class have gotten a lot of hype, many getting thrust into starting roles and performing well. But Alabama DE Brandon Deaderick, a seventh-round pick, had yet to see the field before being active for the first time in Week Four. He went from simply active to starting in New England's Week Six win over the Ravens, recording two tackles and a sack. Deaderick is physical and tough to move, even when double-teamed. After playing in a similar defense at Alabama under Nick Saban, we hear that Deaderick works well in Bill Belichick's system and understands his role and responsibility in the defense, which is to be tough at the point of attack and set the edge. Deaderick was the Patriots' third starter at left end this season as Belichick has the luxury of rotating that spot. While Deaderick might not consistently start, he proved once again the success of the Patriots' scouting department.
