Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty thinks the Vikings could get a new stadium, the (Minneapolis) Star Tribune is reporting.
Pawlenty, who is not seeking re-election this fall, believes his successor can do what he failed to: find the team a new home.
Speaking at a St. Paul Chamber appearance, Pawlenty said: "I think it's highly likely, highly likely to get done because it has to."
Pawlenty didn't say whether he thought public funding would be a part of the solution, the Star Tribune reported, and outlined many of the highly publicized barriers toward getting a new building. But he also expressed optimism that a new stadium could happen in the next few years.
