Clausen's second chance may come before long

Desperate for a win, the Panthers replaced Matt Moore with rookie Jimmy Clausen at quarterback in Week Three after back-to-back losses. Four weeks and zero wins later, head coach John Fox reinstalled Moore as the starter with the hope that he would return to the form he showed at the end of last season, when he helped the Panthers to a 4-1 record in five late-season starts. It's Moore's job again, but it may not be for long if he doesn't play better. We hear the Panthers are taking a week-to-week approach to the quarterback situation, so Clausen could get another shot. The Panthers' plan heading into the season did not call for playing Clausen so early, and some in the organization are not pleased about how he has been handled thus far. The Panthers, who averaged nine points in the three games Clausen started, seem to be in agreement that watching and learning from the sideline for a while is the best thing for him.
