The Chargers have signed PK Kris Brown to temporarily replace Nate Kaeding, who is suffering from a groin injury.

San Diego brought in PKs Shaun Suisham, Shayne Graham and Brown for a kicker competition on Wednesday, with Brown winning a place on the Chargers' roster.

Kaeding is expected to miss at least this Sunday's home game against the Patriots.

The way we see it

Brown brings a veteran presence as an 11-year veteran. He made 21-of-32 FG attempts for the Texans last year before losing a training-camp competition with free agent Neil Rackers prior to the start of the season.

While Brown has had success in the past, his presence in San Diego is unlikely to be permanent. Kaeding has made 7-of-9 FG attempts this season, with a long of 48 yards.
