Deuce Lutui's time spent in Ken Whisenhunt's doghouse seems like a distant memory in the desert. With his weight whittled down significantly from the 396 pounds he was packing at one point during the offseason, most daily team observers concur that the Cardinals' starting right guard has been the team's best offensive lineman. "He's played pretty well," said one observer. "He's been a powerful run blocker and has been solid in protection, and he's always nasty. His weight is still an issue; they would like for him to pull more, if he can keep his weight down." Word is Lutui will follow the money when he becomes a free agent at the end of the season. "He wants to get paid," the observer said. "He's a local guy, but he won't be willing to give the Cardinals a hometown discount. I don't think they can afford to let him leave with all the older guys (Alan Faneca, Jeremy Bridges and Rex Hadnot) at his position."
