Bill Parcells cleaned out his office but is still a consultant for the Dolphins, according to multiple reports. Parcells is no longer involved in day-to-day decisions.

In September, Parcells relinquished full control of football operations to GM Jeff Ireland, a move that was expected. Parcells' contract allows him to cash out whenever he chooses, so it is not a huge surprise he is starting to distance himself from the club.

Reports indicate this is simply a leave of absence for Parcells and he will return to the Dolphins in his consulting role, but he will not move back into his office. It is unknown if he will stick around to help the Dolphins fill their needs in April's draft.

The way we see it

For Parcells to lessen his role with the organization is no surprise. His job was to prepare the team to hand off to Ireland and head coach Tony Sparano, and that has happened for all intents and purposes. The timing of his move from his office is the only surprising part of the story, as there was no indication of when he would leave.
