Here's our weekly look at the contributions made by Browns rookies this season:

CB Joe Haden (first round): Haden intercepted his first career pass in Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh, picking off QB Ben Roethlisberger at the Cleveland three-yard line and returning the pick 62 yards. The takeaway helped set up a Browns field goal. On Monday, head coach Eric Mangini praised Haden, saying the rookie cornerback "had his best week of practice since he's been with us. I think that he's starting to understand what it means to be a pro, he's starting to understand what it takes to prepare each week, and there's no doubt in my mind that that week of preparation, the way that he was last week, led to his best performance since he's been here." In six games, Haden has 18 tackles on defense and five on special teams.

S T.J. Ward (second round): Ward led the Browns with 10 tackles in Week Six, the fourth time he has paced Cleveland in tackles in six games this season. Ward's 54 tackles are the most by any Cleveland defender, and he's added six special-teams tackles (all solos). The Oregon product continues to produce on a weekly basis.

QB Colt McCoy (third round): McCoy made his first career start in Week Six and played well, completing 23-of-33 passes for 281 yards with one TD and two interceptions. He'll get another start if QBs Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace are unavailable because of ankle injuries. "I thought he responded well, thought he did a nice job with his reads, showed poise in the pocket, so really pleased with him," Mangini said of McCoy's debut. "Obviously, there are a lot of things we need to work on, but in terms of an initial opportunity, I felt he seized it and that’s what we had talked about during the week. The way that he was practicing, the way that he was carrying himself he showed a lot of poise and I felt that he played that way."

OG Shawn Lauvao (third round): Lauvao has been inactive for every game this season. An ankle injury bothered him early in the season, but he participated fully leading up to Week Six. He's the top backup to Floyd Womack at right guard.

SS Larry Asante (fifth round): He was waived on Sept. 4 and signed to the Browns' practice squad the next day.

WR Carlton Mitchell (sixth round): Third on the depth chart behind Brian Robiskie and Joshua Cribbs at wide receiver, Mitchell has been inactive for all six games. He missed Week Four because of a head injury.

DL Travis Ivey (undrafted free agent): Waived from the roster on Sept. 4 and re-signed to the practice squad Sept. 5.

DL Brian Sanford (undrafted free agent): Like Ivey, he was re-signed to the practice squad Sept. 5 after being waived the previous day.

Notes: RB Montario Hardesty (second round, No. 59) is on injured reserve after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the Browns' final preseason game. ... DE Clifton Geathers (sixth round, No. 186) was waived by the Browns on Sept. 4. The Dolphins claimed him on Sept. 5, waived him from their roster on Sept. 14, re-signed him to the practice squad Sept. 15 and waived him from the practice squad Sept. 18. ... WR Johnathan Haggerty (undrafted free agent) was waived/injured on Aug. 16 with a foot injury and is currently on Cleveland's injured reserve list.
